Collects delinquent loan payments and late charges ensuring collections operations comply with bank policy and protects the bank’s assets by performing the following essential duties and responsibilit! ies:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Communicates with customers to determine the reason for delinquency and to collect delinquent payments and late charges adhering to collection procedures and guidelines.

Analyzes financial statements, tax returns, and other documentation to recommend the appropriate course of action to supervisor.

Recommends foreclosure and the alternatives to foreclosure; may arrange repayments or forbearance agreements.

Prepares and submits required correspondence to borrowers, investors, mortgage insurance companies, government agencies, and other appropriate parties.

Assists senior collections staff in preparing files for submittal to attorneys for foreclosure and other legal actions and monitoring the progress until the action is complete; assists in ordering and analys! is of appraisals and Brokers Opinion of Value, completing pre-! sales, and taking actions in lieu of foreclosure arrangements.

Monitors bankruptcies and may assist Special Credits Officers represent the bank at bankruptcy hearings.

Assists in securing, inventorying, and ensuring utility hook-ups of bank owned real estate and investor properties; assists in the sale of bank owned and investor properties by marketing and processing paperwork for closings.

Performs other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Associate's degree in business related field and one year customer service experience required; or two years accounting,banking, lending, loan servicing, or related experience an! d one year customer service experience required; or equivalent combination of education/training and experience; one year collections experience preferred.

SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Ability to keyboard 45 wpm and operate a 10-key calculator by sight required; word processing and spreadsheet software experience required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.

REASONING SKILLS:
Ability to define problems, collect! data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpre! t an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several variables.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, and REGISTRATIONS:
Must possess and maintain a valid State of Alaska driver’s license and provide a current copy of an Alaska Department of Motor Vehicles Report (MVR) evidencing a good driving record.
