Office Assistant I.

This position works as part of the Regional Team s! upporting the Bethel, Aniak, and St. Mary's field offices.

The incumbent provides direct support to meet the needs of the regional office. This position works directly with confidential information pertaining to children in custody and potential reports of harm.

Key responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Working as part of a team with the ability to coordinate communications and efforts among team members and others accordingly.
Communicating information about policies, procedures, and regulations to the public and co- workers, in person, over the phone, and in writing.
Effectively working with Microsoft Office 2007.
Accurately and efficiently distributing mail.
Answering a multi-line phone system, assisting callers and/or directs callers to the appropriate individual.
Greets clients.
Entering and retrieving information from an electronic data base quickly and accurately.
Processing regional mail, special needs! billing and regional administrative billing.
Copy confide! ntial court discovery and submit to Attorney General’s office on time.

Accurate case file and discovery tracking
Supply ordering. We are looking to hire an individual with the following demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA's):

Ability to stay focused on numerous details and to maintain a high level of accuracy.
Thorough understanding of clerical processes and functions is preferred.
Knowledge and usage of general office equipment- copiers, printers, faxes, scanners, multi-line phone system is preferred.
Ability to multi-task with frequent interruptions while remaining calm, organized, and accurate.
Ability to deal with angry and upset individuals in a professional manner.
Able to learn new computer programs and processes quickly and easily.
Strong written and o! ral communication skills.
Advanced level experience with Microsoft Office 2007 preferred.
Openness and flexibility in your approach to developing new knowledge and skills.

Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or the equivalent.
AND
Six months of experience that includes clerical tasks such as greeting clients, answering phones, typing, filing, s! orting mail, entering data, receiving payments, making change, or maintaining logs.

Substitution:
Education from an accredited college may substitute for the required experience (3 semester hours or 4 quarter hours equal one month of experience; 150 hours of vocational education equal one month of experience).

A Career Readiness Certificate with ACT WorkKeys® scores of skill level 3 or higher in Locating Information, skill level 3 or higher in Applied Mathematics, and skill level 3 or higher in Reading for Information will substitute for the high school diploma and required experience.

Special Note:
“High school diploma equivalent" means one of the following: 1) a G.E.D.; 2) completion of any basic adult education course equivalent to 480 class hours (16 weeks at 30 course hours per week); 3) acceptance in full standing by an accredited college or university; 4) highest grade of school completed plus an amount of pa! id or volunteer experience that totals 12 years and includes basic cler! ical tasks such as greeting clients, answering phones, typing, filing, sorting mail, entering data, receiving payments, making change, or maintaining logs.

ACT WorkKeys® skill testing and career readiness certification is available at the Department of Labor and Workforce Development’s Alaska Job Centers.

Positions in this class require the incumbent to operate motor vehicles. Such positions require that the applicant possess a regular Alaska driver's license and be 18 years of age or older.

Some positions in this class may require skill in typing. Recruitment and selection may include this requirement.

Additional Required Information:
