Responsible for the overall training of providers and CMA’s that produce medical radiographic images for sub-regional clinics withi! n the Rural Anchorage Service Unit (RASU) and other sub-regional clinic sites as needed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Outline of Essential Job Responsibilities/Functions to Include but Not Limited to:

Customer Care & Relationships:
Creates, develops, and nurtures culturally appropriate interactions and connections with each other, customer-owners, and the community.
Establishes and maintains working relationships with members of the senior management staff.

3. Insures quality improvement of radiographic images through orientation of new employees and continuing education.

4. Insures training covers the elements required by the Alaska Administrative Code, Radiation Sources and Radiation Protection regulations (7 AAC 18.420).

5. Monitors images on the teleradiology system at ANMC to ensure proper positioning and technique use.

6. Participates in the testing of radiographic equipment during su! b-regional clinic site visits to ensure meeting state and fede! ral regulations.

Communications & Teamwork:
Shares and receives information, opinions, concerns, and feedback in a supportive manner.

2. Works collaboratively by building bridges, and creating rapport with team members within departments and across the organization.

3. Uses effective interpersonal and communication skills.

4. Lectures for the Health Care Provider Diagnostic X-Ray Imaging Course.

5. Provides onsite training to sub-regional clinics in all aspects of medical radiographic imaging, including the production of x-rays and the transport of those images to a diagnostic reading site.

6. Develops and maintains a competency checklist for all employees participating in sub-regional clinic medical imaging.

7. Evaluates and documents competencies of those taking medical X-rays at sub-regional clinics.

Improvement & Innovation:
Makes meaningful improvement to services, program, an! d processes and/or organizational effectiveness that create new value for customer-owners and employees.

2. Assists with radiation protection surveys; including equipment checks and computed radiography reader assessment, patient dose assessments and policy/procedure and regulatory review.

3. Works in coordination with the Quality Assurance Team and management to develop and implement a quality assurance program.

  • Monitors quality of care delivered.
  • Provides feedback on quality of care being delivered to ensure JCAHO and other regulatory standards are met as they apply to the department.
  • Abides by policies, procedures and bylaws.

Applies knowledge of 1974 Privacy Act which is required as use of customer-owner record is an integral part of the position and privacy of individuals must be protected to the fullest.
Applies knowledge of concepts, principles, practice, methodology, and instrumentation of each discipline of clinical Radiology medical technology including routine, complex and requested analysis.
Applies knowledge of quality control principles sufficient to maintain and advise on action relative to quality control concepts and correlation of Radiology results.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Qualifications:
SCF programs are established for the p! urpose of serving a primary population comprised of Alaska Natives who are affiliated with the Cook Inlet Region Inc. (CIRI), and Alaska Natives and American Indians within SCF’s geographical service area. Employees should have a thorough understanding of the cultures and the needs of the CIRI members, and of the general culture and needs of Alaska Natives and American Indians. Such knowledge is critical in order to ensure the achievement of the mission and vision of SCF: working together with the Native community to provide the best services with Native staff who value the family and family wellness as the heart of the Native community.
1. Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Technology.

2. Registered in Radiography (R) with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).

3. Minimum of five years’ experience as a Medical Radiology Technologist or demonstrates proficiency as Medical Radiology Technologist at Southcentral Foundation.

! Working Environment:
  • Employee may be exposed to: w! ork near moving mechanical parts (over 2/3 time); exposure to bloodborne pathogens (under 1/3 time); hazardous waste (under 1/3 time); risk of radiation (over 2/3 time).
  • Noise level: Moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers and printers, light traffic).

Peripheral Vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point). Depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships). Ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus).
  • Additional physical demands: employee must be able to respond when needed by prompt appearance at a required location.
