The Alaska Court System (ACS) is recruiting for a Deputy Clerk II to ! support the Anchorage District Court Calendaring Division. This position is responsible for the scheduling of District Court hearings, preparing and publishing daily calendars, reviewing files, and scheduling appropriate hearings.
Regular duties will include:
Schedule court hearings for criminal, civil and small claims cases;
Schedule courtrooms for visiting judges and special events; maintain judge schedules in computer and board grids;
Prepare layout and publish daily calendars in a variety of formats for distribution to the public;
Process case files, conduct research, and schedule appropriate hearings;
Assist court officers, staff, litigants, and the public, both in person and by phone; respond to incoming calls and answer a wide variety of information requests;
Set up laptop computer in courtroom prior to hearings and enter data;
Answer questions from judicial officers regarding the setting of future hearings;
Conduct tou! rs for schools and other public organizations;
Assist in t! raining of new employees, work on special projects as assigned, and assist other court divisions as assigned. The list of applicants generated from this recruitment may be used to fill any future vacancies of this job class in District Court Calendaring occurring within 60 days of the closing date.
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND one year of office clerical experience AND the ability to type at least 40 words per minute.
Substitution:
Additional office clerical work experience will substitute for the high school diploma or GED certificate on a month-for-month basis.
Completion of 36 semester credit hours or 48 quarter credit hours of coursework from an accredited college will substitute for the year of required office clerical experience.
Completion of an appropriate vocational training course of study such as legal secretary, paralegal,! or office skills will substitute for the required office clerical experience on a month-for-month basis.
