The Alaska Court System (ACS) is recruiting for a Deput! y Clerk II in support of the Civil and Appeals Division of the Fairbanks Trial Courts. The successful applicant will perform management of civil and small claims cases with duties to include:
Process civil and small claims files according to established procedures; responsible for assigned cases from opening through final closing; utilize CourtView for data entry and docketing;
Ensure proper paperwork involving divorces, dissolutions, and name changes are distributed to correct parties;
Distribute signed orders and judgments; complete certificates of service accurately; prepare mailings to parties/attorneys of record; prepare certified copies as required;
Schedule small claims trials and hearings, change of name hearings, judgment debtor exams, claim of exemption hearings, and District Court pre-trial scheduling conferences to include preparation and distribution of hearing notices;
Responsible for CourtView data entry and docket! ing of documents generated by the civil case manager, service ! of parties, attorneys of record, and closing of cases;
Responsible for processing judicial assignments/reassignments and preparing monthly vital statistics report; prepare files for microfilming;
Answer questions from attorneys and pro se litigants or route accordingly.

Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND one year of office clerical experience AND the ability to type at least 40 words per minute.
Substitution:
Additional office clerical work experience will substitute for the high scho! ol diploma or GED certificate on a month-for-month basis.
Comp! letion of 36 semester credit hours or 48 quarter credit hours of coursework from an accredited college will substitute for the year of required office clerical experience.
Completion of an appropriate vocational training course of study such as legal secretary, paralegal, or office skills will substitute for the required office clerical experience on a month-for-month basis.
