The primary purpose of this position is to provide paralegal, computer and administrative services of the 3
rd
Wing Legal Office.
·
Researches legal authority and factual circumstances to prepare correspondence and legal documents and assists in litigations.
·
Serves as the primary Office Computer Manager for the Third Wing Legal Office.
·
Maintains and operates manual/electronic filing system.
·
Manage office calendar/suspense system.
·
Performs from desk duties. Answers phone, take messages and transfers calls as appropriate. Performs notary services.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
At least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade (GS-07) or equivalent.
Examples of s
pecialized experience include:
Practical knowledge of basic legal principles and concepts to interpret and apply, or explain to others the application of a body of law, regulations, precedents, and practices covering on or more recurring types of legal actions encountered in the agency; Knowledge of principles, concepts, and methods of legal research and reference sources such as agency manuals, directives, issuance, court reports, appellate records, and commercial legal publications sufficient to locate appropriate data such as applicable precedents, legislative history, and commentaries which bear on particular legal issues; and Knowledge of computer system software to include spreadsheet, database, communications programs, and computer assisted research systems.

Federal Time-In-Grade
(TIG) Requirement for General Schedule (GS) Positions:
Applicants must have served at least 52 weeks at the GS-07 or higher grade (or equivalent in an alternate pay system) within the Federal Civil Service to be considered for referral.
The purpose of TIG restrictions is to prevent excessively rapid promotions in competitive service GS positions and to protect competitive principles.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Non-professional knowledge of legal procedures and authority sufficient to review and prepare correspondence in proper format with supporting authority and documentation and to prepare legal opinions with attorney guidance.
2. Ability to research legal documents and authority from a variety of sources, including electronic media.
3. Ability to operate small computers to produce finished correspondence and forms, maintain a database/spreadsheet, use electronic mail, and access to her electronic media.
4. Knowledge of correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and format to accurately prepare and edit written correspondence and reports.
5. Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software problems on computer terminals and to determine the best method to correct the problem.
6. Ability to administer the use of the local area network within an office and ability to resolve the local area network connectivity problems.
7. Ability to work effectively and independently as a member of the team.
8. Skill in oral and written communication, including preparing and presenting briefings.
9. Ability to maintain filing and suspense system.
10. Skill in typing. A qualified typist is required.

:
Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.
