The Alaska Court System (ACS) is recruiting for a Deputy Clerk II to provide support to the appellate clerk's office by handling various clerical and administrative tasks under general supervision. Regular job responsibilities will include:
Support Juneau and Fairbanks Justices by scanning all records for cases assigned to both chambers, copying oral arguments on to CDs, preparing files and completing paperwork;
Coordinate with Records Management Services for proper completion of scans; download .tif files, convert to .pdf, and save to proper location on Appellate server; copy and distribute transcripts to all chambers;
Back up for front desk and daily lunchtime reception duties; greet customers at counter; date-stamp documents; answer and route calls; assign case numbers to new filings and route to case managers; pull files, records, and microfilm for use by customers; receive payments for new filings and copy charges;
Screen and route incoming mail and prepare outgoing mail;
Copy opinions and MOJs; file and organize trial court records, closed files, and court's confidential files, which contain internal communications among justices, judges, and law clerks;
Perform daily rounds; pick up filings from drop boxes in the Boney and Nesbett buildings;
Review and update financial spreadsheets when checks are issued to ensure proper routing of funds; prepare weekly deposits;
Assist in preparing for Supreme Court law and administrative conferences.

Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND one year of office clerical experience AND the ability to type at least 40 words per minute.
Substitution:
Additional office clerical work experience will substitute for the high school diploma or GED certificate on a month-for-month basis.
Completion of 36 semester credit hours or 48 quarter credit hours of coursework from an accredited college will substitute for the year of required office clerical experience.
Completion of an appropriate vocational training course of study such as legal secretary, paralegal, or office skills will substitute for the required office clerical experience on a month-for-month basis.
