Alaska Public Entity Insurance (APEI) seeking qualified applicants for Property Casualty Claims Manager. APEI is a nonprofit joint insurance arrangement, or pool, providing multiple lines of insurance coverage to public entities throughout A laska.

The Property/Casualty Claims Manager reports to the Executive Director and oversees the handling and management of all property, general liability, and automobile claims. When APEI is utilizing the services of an outside claims adjuster for a claim, the Claims Manager acts as the liaison between APEI and the adjuster. The P/C Claims Manager may also be called on to assist the Workers’ Compensation Claims Manager in the handling and management of WC claims on occasion.

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, skills, and abilities desired for this position include:

Experience: Three years claims handling experience as an adjuster, manager, risk manager, attorney, or comparable experience. Associate in Claims designation or other applicable insurance designation also desired.

Knowledge: Applicants must be familiar with Alaska’s claims laws and regulations, basic adjusting procedures, insurance provisions and coverage, Alaska’s t ort law, and claims management, audit, and investigative techniques.

Language Skills: Strong communication and grammatical skills. Must possess the ability and willingness to communicate, summarize and document events and details in a clear and concise format both in writing and orally.

Education: Four-year degree, or similar knowledge gained through credentialing or work experience in a responsible position in the insurance field.

Technical Skills: Comfortable working with Microsoft Excel.

LOCATION

This is a full-time position in Juneau and may involve travel outside of Juneau several times per year.
