! JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Staff Attorney, the Par! alegal/Legal Assistant provides administrative support for all legal functions, and is part of the UIC Legal Department.

Please note, this position is temporary and will last approximately 5 months.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide administrative support for the UIC Legal Department, including:

Draft contracts for services for UIC Parent and UIC Subsidiaries using UIC’s contracting format and procedures;

Review, draft, and provide management support for UIC Real Estate;

Perform Contract Review utilizing UIC’s contracting guidelines;

Develop and maintain knowledge ability about UIC’s Lands and Environmental issues;

Create and manage internal legal paper and electronic filing system;

Organize, code and track outside law firm invoices;

Format and prepare legal correspondence and other legal documents, including notices, filings, courtesy copies, deeds, subpoenas, and discovery reque! sts and responses;

Coordinate with appropriate managers and employees throughout UIC and its family of companies to assist them to efficiently and effectively meet their legal needs;

Research Alaska Corporations and Alaska Native Settlement Act laws and regulations;

Maintain and update corporate governance records and filings of subsidiaries;

Schedule and make logistical arrangements for internal and external meetings;

Create and manage project files, filing and activity calendars, and corporate records;

Assist in coordinating outside legal services with In-House Legal, other Support Services, and operations, both at UIC parent level and also with the UIC subsidiaries.

Required Skills

QUALIFICATIONS

Excellent administrative and organizational skills;

Excellent oral and written communication skills;

Proven dependability, and ability to manage a large workload with competing pri! orities;

Excellent computer skills, including superior profici! ency in Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, Adobe, and other software programs, and familiarity with the Alaska Corporations systems;

Demonstrated ability to prioritize and handle a variety of tasks, and meet established deadlines;

ability to professionally coordinate within and outside the UIC family of companies;

5 years experience in a legal or other technical professional setting preferred.

Paralegal certification and/or a BA or BS degree, preferred.

Required Experience
