The Anchorage Office of the Attorney General, Collections and Support Section, seeks a dynamic individual to fill an Office Assistant II position in a fast-paced, high volum! e office.
This position will provide administrative and clerical support for the Collections and Restitution Coordinators.
Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to): Answer phone calls and e-mails/letters from restitution debtors and recipients with routine requests such as account balance and payment information; Answer phone calls and e-mails from probation officers and district attorneys with routine requests such as account balance and payment information; Prepare restitution payments for disbursement; Research: addresses for restitution recipients and debtors; account information; payments received; payments distributed; debtor’s probation status; Open new restitution cases in the database and prepare physical files; Prepare initial notice letter to restitution recipient; Prepare and file Satisfaction of Judgments; Prepare releases of liens upon full payment of restitution accounts; Prepare accounts for closing; Provide general clerica! l support for restitution accounts; Assist with filing and phy! sical case management; Answer general Collections Unit phone line; and Other duties and special projects as assigned.
We are looking to hire for some or all of the following demonstrated strengths: Ability to work calmly and productively under frequent deadline pressure and changing priorities in a distracting, fast-paced work environment with frequent interruptions; Well-developed editing, proofreading, grammar, composition, punctuation, and spelling skills; Strong computer skills utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; Ability to stay focused on numerous details and to maintain a high level of accuracy; Ability to develop and to maintain cooperative working relationships with a wide variety of people in all levels of the department; Ability to accept supervision and direct instruction; and Ability to work under a variety of different people and meet all their needs in a timely fashion.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or the equiva! lent.
AND
One year of experience that includes clerical tasks such as greeting clients, answering phones, typing, filing, sorting mail, entering data, receiving payments, making change, or maintaining logs.
Substitution:
Education from an accredited college may substitute for the required experience (3 semester hours or 4 quarter hours equal one month of experience; 150 hours of vocation education equal one month of experience).
Special Note:
“High school diploma equivalent" means one of the following: 1) a G.E.D.; 2) completion of any basic adult education course equivalent to 480 class hours (16 weeks at 30 course hours per week); 3) acceptance in full standing by an accredited college or university; 4) highest grade of school completed plus an amount of paid or volunteer experience that totals 12 years and includes basic clerical tasks such as greeting clients, answering phones, typing, filing, sorting mail, enteri! ng data, receiving payments, making change, or maintaining logs.
Some positions in this class may require the incumbent to operate motor vehicles. Such positions require that the applicant possess a regular driver's license and be 18 years of age or older.
Some position in this class may require skill in typing. Recruitment and selection may include this requirement.
