The Alaska Child Support Services Division (CSSD) has a full-time opening in our Anchorage office in the Audits and Adjustments Section for an Acc! ounting Technician II. This recuritment is open to Alaska Residents Only .

This position independently performs complex audits tailored for case parties, CSSD, courts, other states, and federal/state auditors to accurately reflect and update financial information. An audit requires analysis of financial information, interpretation of administrative/court orders governing each individual case and extracting data from multiple systems of other agencies both in and outside of Alaska. We are looking for a motivated, hard working, dependable, detail-oriented person with excellent organization and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities include:
Auditing and adjusting cases to conform to federal and state, or interstate laws, rules and regulations, CSSD procedures and Director's policies.

Auditing all timeframes of a child support case to ensure all changes, payments and credits have been applied correctly in the case.

Compiling t! he financial data in a way that reflects the case balance owed! on the case back to the beginning of the support order or last audit.

Preparing audits upon request for Department of Revenue Commissioner, Ombudsman, State of Alaska Attorney General's Office, Problem Resolution section, case parties, etc.

Providing experience and knowledge to other Accounting Technicians and caseworkers within CSSD.

Performing complex analysis using substantive knowledge of the rules, laws and regulations pertaining to child support services, the Social Security Act, Temporary Aid for Needy Families (TANF).

Interacting with interstate or foreign agencies, case parties, caseworkers, and child support agencies.

Providing formal training when requested on specific accounting tasks.
The ideal applicant will possess some or all of the following knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience:
Experience in technical accounting, such as researching and reconciling accounts payables and/or receivables, knowledge! of regulations, accounting systems, standard accounting codes, classifications, and terminology to classify and maintain accounts, perform technical audit functions and develop or install revised accounting procedures.

Ability to interpret and apply legal documents such as policies, state statutes, federal regulations and court decisions.

Experience setting up accounts in Excel or a similar spreadsheet program that includes balancing and reconciling with official records and legal documents.

Professional communication skills, both oral and written.

Strong interpersonal skills that enables effectively working with both management and co-workers.

Ability to work independently and with minimal direction.

Experience handling confidential and sensitive information.

Experience using Microsoft Office Word, Outlook and ability to type 35 words per minute with 3 or less errors.

Experience training and instructi! ng personnel in accounting techniques and procedures (desired but not r! equired)

Minimum Qualifications:
One year of entry technical level accounting or bookkeeping experience.

Substitutions:
Certification as an Accounting Technician from an accredited college will substitute for the required experience.

Post secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for the required experience (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month) if it includes at least 6 semester/8 quarter hours in Accounting.

INTERVIEW

2. Copies of your performance evaluations from the last two (2) years, if available. If unavailable, two supervisory letters of reference may be substituted along with a written statement explianing why they were not provided.
3. Typing test results of at least 35 WPM with 3 or less errors; This t! yping test can be taken at the Alaska Job Centers, Monday through Frida! y, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, no appointment is necessary.

If post-secondary education is required to meet the minimum qualifications, you must fill in the Education section of the application. If you have not obtained a degree, please indicate the number of units completed. Copies of transcripts are required to verify educational credentials if used to meet the minimum qualifications for a position.
