Detailed specification about this job opportunity please read the description below. The Alaska Court System (ACS) is recruiting five (5) Deputy Clerks III to support the Anchorage In-Court Division. Under general direction of the In-Court Supervisor, t! hese positions are responsible for producing electronic recordings and written log note indexes of court hearings.
These positions are responsible for recording clear, accurate, and high-quality written and electronic records of court events, assisting with a wide variety of courtroom activities, maintaining the courtroom, replenishing and organizing supplies, coordinating juries, processing case files, records exhibits, and other duties as described below. These duties may be assigned on any or all Trial Court levels including Traffic, District, and Superior Courts.
COURTROOM PREPARATION AND ORGANIZATION
Set up, organize, and maintain the courtroom including operation and testing of a variety of equipment; recognize damaged/malfunctioning equipment and take appropriate action; troubleshoot and correct equipment problems whenever possible; set up, play back, and display videotapes and other media;
Guide jurors and assume bailiff duties wheneve! r necessary;
Prepare and organize case files and paperwork! for court proceedings;
Help coordinate movement of litigants and transport officers, court staff, the public, as well as other personnel in and out of court; expedite flow of courtroom events whenever possible. COURTROOM ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS
Call court to order and administer oaths; log multiple types of court proceedings following established procedures and practices; generate a clear, consistent and accurate record of court proceedings;
Properly and carefully identify, mark, maintain, and store all exhibits submitted in court;
Locate and play back portions of the court record for the judge, jurors, and litigants;
Enter juror attendance in JuryView database; maintain and promote proper courtroom decorum in apparel and demeanor. DUTIES AND ACTIVITIES OUTSIDE THE COURTROOM
Complete log notes, store or dispose of exhibits and properly complete and close other records and documents upon conclusion of court proceedings;
Complete documentation as or! dered in court including temporary orders, attorney fee documentation, small claims judgments and other paperwork as necessary;
Route files, documentation, and other items to appropriate offices or locations as necessary;
Ensure complete and accurate flow of documents, log notes, orders and other information to jails, calendaring, litigants, and other parties;
Maintain security of exhibits, recordings, files, and courtroom during recesses, overnight, and over the weekend;
Travel to Jail Court and other court locations in the state, performing in-court duties and providing assistance to other courts and traveling Judges when necessary;
Assist other court divisions and offices as assigned; assist in the training of new employees;
Answer In-Court Division phone line and respond to phone inquiries which may require locating case files and researching paperwork.
NOTE: Incumbents may work irregular work weeks as weekend clerk on a 3-month rotati! on.

Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND one year of office clerical experience AND the ability to type at least 40 words per minute.
Substitution:
Additional office clerical work experience will substitute for the high school diploma or GED certificate on a month-for-month basis.
Completion of 36 semester credit hours or 48 quarter credit hours of coursework from an accredited college will substitute for the year of required office clerical experience.
Completion of an appropriate vocational training course of study such as legal secretary, paralegal, or office skills will substitute for the required office clerical experience on a month-for-month basis.
