Detailed specification about this position opportunity please read the description below. The Criminal Division of the Fairbanks Trial Courts is recruiting for a Deputy Clerk III. This position serves primarily as a courtroom case manager. T! he incumbent performs highly complex clerical and/or technical tasks and supports technological advances and case management efficiencies in the courtroom.

This position may be assigned to work a non-standard work week, such as Wednesday to Sunday, Tuesday to Saturday, or Sunday to Thursday. The position may work extended hours or be on call when directed. Travel may be required to outlying areas for any court matters set before a judge from Fairbanks, or to cover a judge from an outlying area when needed.

Regular duties will include:
COURTROOM CASE MANAGER
Promote a courtroom environment in which certain court actions are done in "real time" for immediate dissemination and data accessibility with other justice related agencies, attorneys, and the public;
Provide courtroom support to judicial officers, attorneys, staff, and the public; prepare and distribute documents in the courtroom; perform data entry of case information into CourtVie! w;
Perform live data entry of case information into CourtV! iew;
Comply with court rules, statutes, and clerical procedures; issue and quash bench warrants; all case management processes are to be completed in the courtroom. IN-COURT CLERK
Serve as "float" or backup in-court clerk to cover special courtroom proceedings and other employees on scheduled leave or for departmental vacancies; also responsible for relieving other clerks for respite breaks, lunch hours, and working past 4:30 p.m.;
Obtain an accurate and audible record of court hearings, take accurate log notes, and complete required paperwork;
Make sure all parties are present in the courtroom and connect telephonic parties if necessary;
Closely monitor recording device at all times to ensure that a clear record is made; prepare tag reports and other forms used in the courtroom;
File stamp, initial, and date all paperwork filed in open court. CRIMINAL CLERK AND OTHER DUTIES

On weekends and holidays, may work as the arraignment clerk; after ! files are prepared for court, transition to the courtroom case manager role;
Review criminal motions for rule and statutory compliance, enter into CourtView, and route to chambers when ripe for ruling;
Process search warrants; assist supervisor with SIS notice processing;
Assist supervisor with review of audit reports and making necessary data corrections in CourtView;
May process judgments, orders, dated citations, summons, records requests, and microfilm;
Track No Dark Courtroom project statistics;
Assist in cross-training clerks as courtroom case managers;
Assist other staff or departments as needed. The list of applicants generated from this recruitment may be used to fill any future vacancies of this job class in the Fairbanks Criminal Division occurring within 60 days of the closing date.

Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND one year of! office clerical experience AND the ability to type at least 40 words p! er minute.

Substitution:
Additional office clerical work experience will substitute for the high school diploma or GED certificate on a month-for-month basis.
Completion of 36 semester credit hours or 48 quarter credit hours of coursework from an accredited college will substitute for the year of required office clerical experience.
Completion of an appropriate vocational training course of study such as legal secretary, paralegal, or office skills will substitute for the required office clerical experience on a month-for-month basis.
