Key responsibilities include:
Typing and formatting a variety of legal correspondence, petitions, briefs, and pleadings;
Preparation of general correspondence;
Entering and receiving information from an electronic database, quickly and accurately;
Ensuring that legal forms meet legal and judicial requirements and deadlines;
Utilizing an electronic database to open, maintain and close files;
General clerical duties to include: typing, filing, photocopying, faxing, scanning. We are looking for an incumbent with the following demonstrated strengths :
Ability to work calmly and accurately under frequent deadline pressure and changing priorities in a distracting, fast-paced work environment with frequent interruptions;
Developed editing, proofreading, grammar, composition, punctuation, and spelling skills;
Openness and flexibility in your a! pproach to developing new knowledge and skills;
Ability to! use logical thinking and problem solving skills in an appropriate manner and with appropriate judgment;
Diplomacy when interacting with difficult or angry people;
Strong computer skills utilizing Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook;
Ability to stay focused on numerous details and to maintain a high level of accuracy;
Ability to develop and to maintain cooperative working relationships with a wide variety of people in all levels of the department;
Ability to accept supervision and direct instruction;
Ability to support a variety of different people and meet all their needs in a timely fashion;
Ability to tolerate exposure to graphic discussions and evidence of violent acts.
The incumbent of this position will be required to obtain APSIN access and a notary public bond .
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or the equivalent;
AND
Six months of experience performing work that required keyboarding sk! ills, proficiency in the use of office information technology, and oral and written communication skills.
Special Note:
“High School Equivalent†includes a G.E.D., or completion of any basic education course of 480 class hours (16 weeks at 30 hours per week), or six months of work experience performing duties related to the job class, or twelve months of work experience involving some routine tasks related to the job in question or highest grade of school completed plus amount of work experience which totals 12 years.
Most positions require incumbents to be able to obtain a Notary Public Bond and to be able to pass a criminal background check to meet security requirements for using criminal record networks such as APSIN and NCIC/NLETS. If this requirement is present, it will be stated in the vacancy announcement.
Some positions are required to work regular overtime on weekends and/or holidays to provide support to the assigned duty ! attorney. If this requirement is present, it will be stated in the vaca! ncy announcement and in the Position Description.
