The Alaska Court System (ACS) is recruiting for a Deputy Clerk II position to support the Appellate Court Transcripts Office. This position will process appella! te records and grand jury transcript requests on appeal cases from the Second and Third Judicial Districts .

The successful candidate will apply excellent customer service skills to perform the following duties:

Prepare Record of Appeals, screen paperwork, request trial court files, exhibits, and/or audio recordings;
Establish and maintain a tickler system to assure files are received and forwarded by appropriate due date;
Download and process scanned trial court files as TIF files, convert to PDF documents, and electronically paginate for Court of Appeals cases;
Bates stamp Supreme Court files using an electric numbering machine;
Distribute electronic copies of records to parties; certify and forward records and audio to the Appellate Clerk's office; utilize bar code scanner;
Receive and process requests for grand jury transcripts; maintain Excel spreadsheets;
Provide general office support including but not limited to ordering sup! plies, making copies, scanning, filing, processing mail, and s! pecial projects as assigned;
Respond effectively to telephonic and personal inquiries from staff, attorneys, and the public. You are required to attach a cover letter OR use the text boxes within the Supplemental Questions section to write in detail your experience with the duties, strengths, key responsibilities, knowledge, skills, and abilities listed above.

The list of applicants generated from this recruitment may be used to fill any future vacancies of this job class in the Anchorage Appellate Transcripts Division occurring within 60 days of the closing date.

Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND one year of office clerical experience AND the ability to type at least 40 words per minute.

Substitution:
Additional office clerical work experience will substitute for the high school diploma or GED certificate on a month-for-month basis. !
Completion of 36 semester credit hours or 48 quarter credit hours of coursework from an accredited college will substitute for the year of required office clerical experience.
Completion of an appropriate vocational training course of study such as legal secretary, paralegal, or office skills will substitute for the required office clerical experience on a month-for-month basis.
