The Alaska Court System (ACS) is recruiting for a Deputy Clerk II to supp! ort the Anchorage Probate/Children's Division. This position is responsible for opening and closing CINA, Delinquency, and Probate cases and assisting customers on the phone and at the counter concerning court procedures, case files, and copy requests as needed.
Regular duties will include:
Accept petitions for filing and open cases; assign judges/magistrates for new cases; accept filing fees as required and prepare receipts; open cases electronically;
Issue summons and subpoenas; prepare Guardian ad Litem assignment orders and take necessary calendaring action;
Pull files daily and route accordingly;
Process and distribute orders and judgments to parties and agencies;
Perform data entry of new documents and events as required in the case management system and motion tracking system; close case files and make necessary data entry;
Prepare certified and exemplified copies;
Register trusts and receive wills for deposit; receive and ! receipt filing fees, maintain yearly index of creditor claims ! and demands, and prepare affidavits and distribute demands for notice in estate cases;
Assist customers in person and on the phone; answer questions about files and procedures;
Maintain supply of documents and forms available to the public;
Cross-train to provide back-up within the division during periods of leave. The list of applicants generated from this recruitment may be used to fill any future vacancies of this job class in the Anchorage Probate/Children's Division occurring within 60 days of the closing date.
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND one year of office clerical experience AND the ability to type at least 40 words per minute.
Substitution:
Additional office clerical work experience will substitute for the high school diploma or GED certificate on a month-for-month basis.
Completion of 36 semester credit hours or 48 q! uarter credit hours of coursework from an accredited college will substitute for the year of required office clerical experience.
Completion of an appropriate vocational training course of study such as legal secretary, paralegal, or office skills will substitute for the required office clerical experience on a month-for-month basis.
