The Alaska Court System (ACS) is recruiting for a Deputy Clerk II i! n support of the Fairbanks Trial Courts. Under general supervision, this position serves as case manager managing clerical actions over the life of criminal cases ensuring that court rules, statutes, policies, and procedures are maintained.

The selected applicant will perform the following duties on a rotational basis. All duties require a high level of attention to detail, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, solid knowledge of criminal rules, statutes, policies and procedures, and skill in accurate and efficient data entry. Regular duties include:

ARRAIGNMENT CASE MANAGER
Actively manage the jail list and ensure criminal complaints are filed within time standards;
Prepare files for court including opening new files, examining new case files for compliance, out-of-custody/in-custody arraignments, and other hearings, process bail-outs; schedule arraignment and calendar call hearings;
Open and process other criminal cases including s! ummons, dated citations, and petitions to revoke probation; Additional case processing duties include: ex-parte motions for bench warrants, expedited processing of signed bench warrants (including served/quashed/canceled), returned summons, governor's warrants, affidavits for failure to report to jail, cash bonds for defendants who have posted bail, and amend and distribute complaints;
Monitor and process warrant bin, after-arraignment bin, bail paperwork bin, and faxed or copied remand slips or other documents relating to arraignment files. GENERAL CRIMINAL CASE MANAGER
Process misdemeanor and felony judgments, orders, and close cases,
Prepare requests for bail disbursement, judgments of forfeiture, restitution judgments, deferred prosecution, and distribute judgments and orders;
Pre-trial services including review/process requests for court-appointed attorney, attorney appointments from the bench, and appoint conflict counsel;
Process, distribute, and perform data entry of orders and indictments;
M! onitor and process items from criminal distribution basket, pre-trial bin and faxed/copied documents. CRIMINAL RECORDS CASE MANAGER

Process incoming documents including returned mail, dockets, and update CourtView;
Verify compliance of community work service, electronic monitoring, ignition interlock receipts, and issue fine credits;
Process pre-sentence reports and documents for compliance with victim's rights act;
Process other documents in the records bin;
Process records requests from the public and external agencies; OCCASIONAL DUTIES
Cross-train as a backup courtroom case manager;
Prepare case files and documents for microfilming;
Process records requests;
Assist other departments as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:
Gr! aduation from high school or completion of a General Education Developm! ent (GED) certificate AND one year of office clerical experience AND the ability to type at least 40 words per minute.

Substitution:
Additional office clerical work experience will substitute for the high school diploma or GED certificate on a month-for-month basis.
Completion of 36 semester credit hours or 48 quarter credit hours of coursework from an accredited college will substitute for the year of required office clerical experience.
Completion of an appropriate vocational training course of study such as legal secretary, paralegal, or office skills will substitute for the required office clerical experience on a month-for-month basis.
