RCO Legal â€" Alaska, Inc. is currently recruiting for a Litigation Paralegal or highly experienced Legal Secretary for our Anchorage office.
RCO focuses in representation of financial institutions, substant! ial investors, title insurers, housing authorities and select businesses in all matters related to licensing, servicing, mortgage banking, consumer finance, special credits, title insurance, real estate finance, and the enforcement of mortgage loans including foreclosures, evictions, and creditor representation in bankruptcy filings.
Position Summary: Responsible for supporting two to three Attorneys in active litigation, commercial, collection, foreclosure, eviction, and bankruptcy practice areas.
Essential Job Functions: Assist in the initial drafting of routine motions. Review Motions and Pleadings for accuracy that are drafted by the attorney with a keen eye for proof reading and grammar. Learn, interpret, and apply client expectations and maintain client relationships. Process incoming mail for calendaring and manage attorney calendars. Oversight and responsibility for a high volume of electronic files, communicate with attorneys, client! s, third parties, and the Court. Responsibilities also include! preparing correspondence, reviewing local rules and statutes, retrieving documents, and communication with internal and external clients.
Education/Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent. Law firm experience a must, with a strong preference for five years or more in assisting in litigation. Familiarity in working with multiple attorneys. Previous industry experience in foreclosure, bankruptcy and real estate law preferred. Paralegal certification preferred.
Skills: Excellent customer service and the ability to self-direct. Ability to work with high volumes while meeting deadlines. Basic drafting of pleadings and discovery requests/responses, arranging depositions and calendaring. Ability to work well under pressure. Ability to maintain records accurately, and prepare reports. Ability to resolve problems quickly and effectively determine appropriate courses of action. Ability to manage time and workload with regular interruptions. Must! be flexible and have well developed interpersonal skills. Must be highly organized and self- motivated. Ability to juggle multiple tasks.
Computer Skills: High level of proficiency with computers and technology. Experience in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.). Ability to learn new technologies quickly, including case management software. Fast typist. E-filing and Alaska court filing experience required.
