Location: Fairbanks, Alaska

Description: Workplace Alaska is currently seeking to employ Enforcement Safety Officer (PCN 07-2024) right now, this job will be delegated in Alaska. The Department of Labor & Workforce Development, Labor Standards & Safety is recruiting for an Occupational Safety and Compliance Officer. Do you h! ave experience in industrial workplace safety? Or do you have a combination of 5 or more years of experience in one or more of these industries and experience as an industrial safety officer? If your answer is “yes” to any of these three, we would love to hear from you. We are looking to hire someone with the following demonstrated strengths (please note that these points will need to be highlighted in your cover letter):

Effectively self-managing time and priorities to maintain an ever changing workload,
Being able to communicate and consult effectively with agency representatives, officials at state and federal level, employers, workers, and the public who may be angry and inconvenienced,
Proficiency and professionalism in writing skills. Key r! esponsibilities include:
Observe and analyze the job envir! onment to determine of code violations are present,
Evaluate a variety of interrelated information involving existing and/or potential hazards related to the inspection and determine the best course of action,
Understand, interpret, apply and identify breaches of regulations related to workplace safety on the work site being inspected,
Communicate and consult effectively with agency representatives, officials, employers, workers, and the public who may be angry and inconvenienced,
Write reports and maintain records that will require the use of computer and various computer programs,
Testify as an expert witness at administrative review hearings,
Assist in preparing cases for presentation before the OSHA review board presided over an administrative law judge. Supplemental requirements:
One must have the ability to perform medium physical exertion to include lifting, bending, carrying, pushing, pulling, and climbing.
This position may require e! xtensive travel, much of it to remote locations in small aircraft and boats, and it may involve exposure to inherently hazardous or potentially dangerous environmental conditions.
This position is also occasionally required to climb to heights of three stories or more.
One should possess valid Alaska Driver’s License. Writing skills, including spelling and grammar proficiency, will be used in determining who will be invited to interview and who will not be.
