The Minor Consuming Alcohol (MCA) Sentencing Coordinator is a monitor for Juvenile Alcohol Safety Action P! rogram (JASAP) cases referred to Volunteers of America Alaska by the District Court. This position is also responsible for the coordination of Victim Impact Classes.
Supervises: Youth referred to the Minor Consuming Alcohol and Juvenile Alcohol Safety Action Program (JASAP).
Schedule: Full Time, Monday-Friday
Duties and Responsibilities:
MCA (31 hours/week)
Process referrals from the District Court for JASAP cases
Monitor clients through completion of court directives
Act as referral/resource to facilitate client completion
Inform District Attorney of completion or non-compliance on a case-by-case basis
Bill and collect fees for the program
Act as record-keeper
Resolution Center (9 hours/week)
Process referrals from all sources (MYC, ASD, Youth Court, Tier 2, others)
Facilitate victim/offender mediation and adolescent/parent mediation
Instruct Victim Impact Classes for offenders! on a regular basis
Act as central record-keeper for the R! esolution Center
Promote programs in the community and answer inquiries
Bill and collect fees for classes
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
Ability to perform duties and responsibilities described herein.
Degree in human services, justice or related field and experience working with adolescents (Experience may be substituted for degree)
Ability to understand and work effectively with government agencies
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access programs (others as needed)
Conditions of Employment:
Availability to work some evenings and weekends.
Auto insurance coverage in accordance to agency requirements.
Must pass the State of Alaska Background check.
Alaska Driver’s License, with clean driving record in accordance with agency’s insurance company standards.
Must be punctual and reliable.
Must have initial TB test.!
