is recruiting for an Office Assistant I to join our team.
Duties of this position include but are not limited to:
This position independently provides front desk receptionist and clerical support to the Regulatory Commission of Alaska (RCA). Scans incoming filings into the agency's Case Management System (CMS). Compiles reading files. Maintains public information boards. Handles document shredding. Incumbent will have extensive contact with the general public, attorneys, utility company executives, RCA staff and RCA Commissioners.

If you do not have experience with a particular trait, simply say so:
- Knowledgeable and experienced working as a receptionist, answering main phone, taking messages, greeting walk-ins, all customer service areas;
- Knowledgeable with sorting and routing mail;
- Knowledgeable working with high priority, confidential and/or sensitive documents;
- Knowledgeable that accuracy is critical when entering metadata into a database;
- Skilled with operating computer programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook;
- Skilled at operating, fax machines, copiers, scanners, and various other office equipment;
- Skilled at creating and maintaining document folders and label making;
- Ability to take on projects, follow instructions and stay on track;
- Ability to be punctual, reliable, and to be enthusiastic about your work; and
- Ability to independently prioritize, to take ownership, and stand behind your work.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or the equivalent.
AND
Six months of experience that includes clerical tasks such as greeting clients, answering phones, typing, filing, sorting mail, entering data, receiving payments, making change, or maintaining logs.
Substitution:
Education from an accredited college may substitute for the required experience (3 semester hours or 4 quarter hours equal one month of experience; 150 hours of vocational education equal one month of experience).
A Career Readiness Certificate with ACT WorkKeys® scores of skill level 3 or higher in Locating Information, skill level 3 or higher in Applied Mathematics, and skill level 3 or higher in Reading for Information will substitute for the high school diploma and required experience.
Special Note:
"High school diploma equivalent" means one of the following: 1) a G.E.D.; 2) completion of any basic adult education course equivalent to 480 class hours (16 weeks at 30 course hours per week); 3) acceptance in full standing by an accredited college or university; 4) highest grade of school completed plus an amount of paid or volunteer experience that totals 12 years and includes basic clerical tasks such as greeting clients, answering phones, typing, filing, sorting mail, entering data, receiving payments, making change, or maintaining logs.
ACT WorkKeys® skill testing and career readiness certification is available at the Department of Labor and Workforce Development's Alaska Job Centers.
Some positions in this class may require the incumbent to operate motor vehicles. Such positions require that the applicant possess a regular Alaska driver's license and be 18 years of age or older.
Some positions in this class may require skill in typing. Recruitment and selection may include this requirement.
