Develops, coordinates, conducts, and evaluates the customer-owner education program for the community and customer-owners served.
This is a ! job progression, two job levels, designed to provide progressively more responsible and independent work experiences to participants as part of the overall assessment of their ability and capability. Promotion between job levels is based on performance on prior assignments and the demonstrated ability to successfully handle more progressively responsible assignments.

Customer Care & Relationships:
Creates, develops, and nurtures culturally appropriate interactions and connections with each other, customer-owners, and the community.
Develops education programs to promote health and wellness related to health and safety issues based on the needs of the community.
- Develops classes on topics in coordination with other departments and programs throughout SCF.
- Coordinates with other departments to include various experts in the group education processes, i.e. physical therapy, nutritio! n, etc.
- Researches various methods of customer-owner education and determine which methods will be the most effective in the community we serve.
- Develops education resource materials library including a video library for health issues to distribute and use during the customer-owner visit.
- Coordinates with the staff and customer-owners on types of group education classes needed, customer-owner education materials needed, and staff training that is needed to implement effective customer-owner education program.
- Develops a system for informing staff and customer-owners of the schedules and availability of classes.
- Develops satisfaction/needs survey to add to the classes offered and to modify current classes.
- Ensures that customer-owner! education material is updated and modified as medical and health information is changed.
Ability to facilitate groups.
Skill and experience conducting group education programs.
Skilled in interpersonal relationships is a priority for this position since the perception of the customer-owner must be that the staff is interested in attending to their needs.

Prepares month end reports in a timely and efficient manner which include statistical and narrative summaries of the activities of the month.
- Develops a system for tracking the effectiveness of group education.
- Collates the results of satisfaction/need needs surveys and prepare statistical reports that track the effectiveness of the group education programs on a quarterly basis.
- Maintains a variety of files, logs, and registers.
Knowledge of 1974 Privacy Act is required as use o! f customer-owner record is an integral part of the position and privacy of individuals must be protected to the fullest.
Ability to maintain quality, safety and infection control standards.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Qualifications:
SCF programs are established for the purp! ose of serving a primary population comprised of Alaska Natives who are! affiliated with the Cook Inlet Region Inc. (CIRI), and Alaska Natives and American Indians within SCF’s geographical service area. Employees should have a thorough understanding of the cultures and the needs of the CIRI members, and of the general culture and needs of Alaska Natives and American Indians. Such knowledge is critical in order to ensure the achievement of the mission and vision of SCF: working together with the Native community to provide the best services with Native staff who value the family and family wellness as the heart of the Native community.
1. Bachelor’s degree in health education or equivalent academic training and work experience; or Registered Nurse with an Alaska license.
Additional Qualifications for Health Educator II: Meets all requirements of Health Educator I addition to the following:
Registered Nurse with an Alaska license with two (2) years experience managing a specific health education program; or a Masterâ€! ™s Degree in health education; or four (4) years experience managing specific customer-owner education programs.
Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).

- Additional physical demands: this position requires driving; employee may be required to work holidays, evenings, weekends, and nights; employee must be able to respond when needed by prompt appearance at a required location; travel may be required.
