Location: Anchorage, Alaska

Description: Solstice Advertising, LLC is presently looking of Graphic Designer I right now, this job will be reside in Alaska. The Graphic Designer I fulfills approved design work and complete internal production requirements, either with traditional mechanical, or by use of computer layout/illustration/pre-press software.

Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Completes all digital artwork/layouts assigned by the art director or team.
  • Produces all artwork according to the team specifications; works with the team and assigned
art director to achieve desired results. Advises creative on best way to achieve approved
concept via computer layout/illustration/pre-press technique.

  • Generates proofs for review by supervisor, assigned art director, account service personnel,
proofreader/copy-editor and client.
  • In conjunction with supervisor, orders all digital output when needed, and works with vendors
to coordinate correct digital output and transmission of pre-press artwork prepared on
computer; orders camera-ready materials, type output or other outside purchases not supplied
by creative to complete assigned projects.

  • Confirms all production deadlines with art directo! r and/or Client Insights executive.
  • Reviews all work ! for errors/omissions with assigned art director prior to turning in work for
creative/client insights executive/client approval.

  • Makes all requested changes/corrections promptly and correctly.
  • Maintains working knowledge of pertinent software and peripherals needed to complete work.
  • May be asked to assist in preparing digital images for use by the interactive design department
on interactive websites.

  • Additional duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position has no supervisory positions.

Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.

  • Education and/or Experience : High School Diploma or GED. B.A. or B.S. in Graphic Design,
Art, marketing/! pr, communications, business or related field or equivalent academic and work
experience. Knowledge of Adobe CS6 suite. One to three years experience in graphic design,
Ability to coordinate with internal and external groups. Experience with photography, video
production and illustration is highly desirable. Written communication skills a must.

Knowledge of production processes, including but not limited to the ability to use current
software programs to create digital artwork that meets pre-press requirements. Knowledge/skills
required for this position includes typography, type specification, photo cropping/sizing, image
manipulation, digital illustration skills, digital and print color specification, etc. Experience in
advertising art production, with a working knowledge of printing techniques and requirements,
inks, papers, digital pre-press, and typography/font management is desirable. Some knowledge
of interactive/web image! requirements for preparing simple images and icons for interactive/web!
applications is desirable.

  • Language Skills : Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and
maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and
correspondence. Speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.

  • Mathematical Skills : Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers,
common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and
interpret bar graphs.

  • Computer Skills : To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to type 45 words
per minute and should have adequate knowledge of database software, spreadsheet software and
word processing software. S/he must be expert in Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign,
Adobe Acrobat, Dreamweaver, Flash & Fireworks and other industry design and production
software. Microsoft ! packages preferred.
